With the hype of AI and a lot of people utilising it to generate content, we ask ourselves how is it going to impact software development.

Training AI models is a costly endeavour, first you need to categorise the data and have enough data. Secondly you need to train the model and continue training it to adapt to the continuing business requirements.

At Philo Software don’t build models (although we have trained some), but we leverage cloud hosted models such as Chat GPT and AWS Object Recognition to do the work for us. They are very affordable to use for processing data and for general use cases are fantastic and easily customisable.

It has been a massive change for us as to how we approach solving issues in software, tasks that were traditionally impossible are now possible. Data that we cannot infer anything from such as text and images are now convertible to data points, we can ask an AI model to process text or an image and determine what is happening based on criteria we provide or train it to look for.

Building AI into software using customised models can take formally hard to process data into actionable datasets.
