Apata Recruitment

Spacing Dash

Apata are in the business of kiwifruit picking and packing. With a busy season ahead of them and not enough staff, an impressive recruitment drive was in order. Often these jobs are filled by international travellers so the first step was to create something these people would respond to. Philo got to work on creating an exciting, bespoke website which would draw people in and prompt them to take action.

Challenge

What Apata wanted was a bright, interactive landing page which incorporated videos, animated graphics, and several information sections. Yes, this could be done but it certainly presented some challenges when optimising for mobile (the main device travellers use). Philo showed Apata how it could be done and gave them an idea of how it would look and operate on both desktop and mobile. Once they were happy, a few things were added, and Philo put together the build while not losing sight of the number one goal – registrations.

Outcome

The Apata landing page is hard to look away from. Split into four, brightly themed sections, visitors can get a feel for what work and play could be like in the Bay of Plenty. When hovering over two sections, videos play showing people engaging in outdoor adventure activities. The words ‘Work to play’ also come through one-by-one in a fun animation. On desktop the sections sit side-by-side and on mobile, they are stacked and smoothly swap out with a simple click. The call to action (to fill in the application form) is dominant throughout. Where possible, minimal words are used to keep it simple and easy to read, particularly for people who may not speak strong English.

This bespoke build incorporates Vue.js applications and is fully integrated with Google Analytics to allow for event tracking. This is particularly important for analysing results and seeing what steps people have taken and where they may have dropped off. If it looks like people are struggling with registering on the primary site, the next step may be to address this and further simplify. Overall this is an exciting page that sets out to engage and motivate new workers to sign up.
